New York, NY (July 14, 2008) – MONEY magazine has named Overland Park, Kansas, one of the Best Place’s to Live in America. The magazine released its annual Best Places list today. Overland Park was ranked #9, a full winner’s list appear in MONEY’s August issue, on sale July 17, and visitors to MONEY’s Web site, CNNMoney.com, can click into the numbers and learn about more than nearly 600 places considered for this year’s list.

“Overland Park’s goal is to be a quality place to live and work,” said Gary Sherrer, senior vice president, Overland Park Economic Development Council. “For the second time, Money magazine has confirmed the community’s success in meeting that goal with another top 10 ranking. National recognition is important when you are recruiting new companies.”

“We are very proud to be part of your local community’s celebration for receiving MONEY’s national recognition on America’s Best Places to Live.” said MONEY assistant managing editor Beth Fenner. “Above and beyond the statistical research, MONEY editors spent a lot of time speaking to residents, and business and community leaders; we were duly impressed and you deserve this recognition.”

Starting with an initial list of 586 places that have populations between 50,000 and 300,000, MONEY’s team of editors and writers undertook several months of research, reviewing data on a wide range of economic and quality-of-life indicators. Working with data provider Onboard of New York City and consultant Bert Sperling of BestPlaces.net, MONEY’s team narrowed the list and then visited cities across the country, interviewing residents, community leaders and local officials before compiling the final rankings.

Online at www.cnnmoney.com, users can view detailed stats on places in their area, check out maps highlighting top employers, museums and other points of interest, compare their favorite city against the magazine’s 10 winners, and sound off about the list on the Best Places blog.
